Covenant Kids Book 1

Do your kids love adventure stories or graphic novels? Do you want them to read clean and uplifting stories that have meaning and encourage them? The new Covenant Kids series by Andrew Youngblood fulfills all of these! This colorful graphic novel (could also be called a comic book) is the first story in a series about kids growing up where speaking about their faith, learning or worshiping God outside of church is illegal. Four teenagers feel God calling them to study the Bible for themselves despite the law.  In Covenant Kids Book 1 - The Law they work their way through Genesis ... Continue Reading...

The Incredible Story of Who God Is, Who You Are, and Who You Were Made To Be Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible Join us as we check out the Tiny Truths Illustrated Bible by Joanna Rivard and Tim Penner. We were given a copy to read and review by the publisher and my kids have come to love this book and look forward to reading it each night before bed. This little Bible story book includes 15 Old Testament stories and 18 New Testament stories. They are pretty comprehensive and each story is about four pages long. Some are quicker reads than others. We like how easy ... Continue Reading...

The Bible for kids who enjoy graphic novels

Why Graphic Novels are Fun In the "old days" we called them comic books (which in reality were really comic "magazines"), but nowadays graphically illustrated books are "graphic novels". My kids really enjoy these graphic novels, even if they have read the story before without all the illustrations. We were given a copy of BibleForce to review and the boys haven't wanted to put it down. BibleForce: The First Heros Bible is a brand-new Bible storybook that is illustrated with exciting, comic-style artwork. You can see for yourself how vivid and detailed the illustrations are on each ... Continue Reading...

T is for Tree: A Bible ABC {Book Review}

T is for Tree: A Bible ABC is a hardcover book designed for children ages three to six. We were provided this beautifully illustrated book by Reformed Free Publishing Association to review. The book takes children through the alphabet, giving examples of God's love and provision for us with each letter. Each page also features a Bible verse or verses to show children as you read what God's Word says about His care for us. All scriptures are taken from the King James version of the Bible. I can't say enough about how colorful and beautiful the illustrations are in this book! ... Continue Reading...

ICB Prayer Bible for Children

I have struggled with a good way to teach my kids how to pray. I try to set an example with my own prayers, but children's prayers are usually vastly different from adult prayers. So how do you teach your kids to pray? I was offered a chance to review The Prayer Bible for Children (ICB version) and we have really enjoyed going through it. This beautiful Bible comes in two colors: pink and blue. Since I have more boys than girls I chose blue. The Bible has a hard cover with gold accents. It includes a matching 64-page prayer journal for children to write notes and prayers to God ... Continue Reading...

I’m Not a Scaredy Cat

Everyone gets scared, but it seems kids have a harder time overcoming fears. Often times it is hard to ease a child's fears because they have such a vivid imagination. I'm Not a Scaredy Cat is an adorable new children's book by Max Lucado all about trusting God when you're scared. Through the story the cute cat denies he's a scaredy cat except in certain situations, then shares the prayer he prays to help him not feel scared anymore. The illustrations in this book are eye-catching and colorful. My kids especially liked the details of the cat when something scared him. He's just so ... Continue Reading...

An Uncommon Courtship

An Uncommon Courtship by Kristi Ann Hunter is a Regency Era novel and it's book 3 in the Hawthorne House series. I have had the pleasure of reading all of the books so far and I have loved all of them, including the prequel novella. This has probably been my least favorite, but it is still a good book. Adelaide has a perfect reputation after living in her sister's shadow, but one move lands her in a compromising situation. Trent has plans to fall in love and marry the woman of his choosing, but his choice is taken away when he finds himself honor-bound to marry Adelaide whom he doesn't ... Continue Reading...

Heart on the Line

Heart on the Line by Karen Witemeyer is an adorable historical romance that delves into the world of telegraph operators. She works as the town's telegraph operator and has formed a friendship with Amos, a fellow operator in a neighboring town. Amos learns of Grace's troubles and comes to Harper's Station to help, but trouble is about to find them both! This is book #2 in Witemeyer's series "Ladies of Harper's Station" (you can find my review of book #1 here) and ... Continue Reading...

Marmal the Blue Ribbon Sheep

Marmal the Blue Ribbon Sheep is a new children's book by Lisa Marie Mathieson. My first impression of this book was the illustrations were adorable! Isn't Marmal just the cutest little sheep ever?! Her name is short for Marmalade and her personality is just as sweet as her name. Without giving away too much about the book I'll just say this is a sweet story about being kind no matter what or who you come into contact with. I felt there were a few details added in that distracted from the plot, but my kids never noticed. They said one of their favorite parts was where Marmal brings her ... Continue Reading...
